San Elizario Salt Wars
about san elizario
San Elizario is a small town 20 miles east from El Paso, the war started in 1877 when a busisness man claimed the salt mines, flats and beds all his and that nobody was aloud to get any that caused people to riot for the salt, and that when the El Paso salt war started also known as that San Elizario salet war, and Salinario Revolt. The salt was located at a area near the town, people from different came to get salt for daily use in there lives and to sell to others that can't get their own. So cause of the man's action it cause the war and 25 people had died one including the businessman,some residents and a texas ranger. Cuase of the peoples action the city had to pay $1.5million to repair structures and the actions lead to no good and nobody was aloud to get any more salt.
why salt is important
The salt from San Elizario is 39% sodium which was important for human life it could preserve meat and can help human life by helping blood vessels and more it can also help cure someone with a sickness. Also most importantly it had a coct so people would sell the salt for money or trade it.

People from everywhere came to get salt, they came with trucks, wagons, and carts to fill their vehicles or transportation for salt full of salt so people would get good money in selling the salt they collected. The people would ship the salt to cites near San Elizario and El Paso to sell the salt and they would go farther to northern New Mexico.
