How I Choose my topic
I chose my topic at the beginning of the second semester my teacher told us that "Home Town Frontiers" project was starting so I had to chose a topic but it took me a week to decide but then I choose "San Elizario Salt War" then I started to read about it online because I had no idea of what was the salt war. After reading many articles and websites I had a interest in it and wanted to learn more about it, and learned that it was a war for salt but a businessman claimed it his and no one else was allowed to get any more salt, so then war started east against the west for salt and that's how I got interested. Therefore those are reasons I choose this topic.
How i conducted my RESEARCH
First of all I read books, websites and articles about the salt war. I learned many new things and found out that the businessman was killed, and also San Elizario is 20 miles east of El Paso. But the businessman claimed all salt his and the people got mad and started protesting by destroying building. Then the Texas rangers came and calmed things down for a little bit. Later that became almost like a civil war. Then after war was over there was millions of dollars in damage that caused economical problems to El Paso. Also the San Elizario salt war was also known as El Paso salt war and Salinero Revolt.
how I selected my presentation category and created my project
I selected my category by looking at the packet my teacher gave me and saw a few topic that did not interest me but I saw one of them and was "The El Paso salt war" so it sounded like a great topic and then I research about it and had a interest of it and read websites and learned more interesting things. So when I started I had a little clue of how to do my website and was actually fun making it, so in a week I had made the pages and every thing, then I finished. Then later started to put finishing touches.
how my topic relates to the theme
My topic, San Elizario salt war relates to the theme of great things in peoples life don't last long and I say that because people of El Paso and cities near El Paso got salt and used it and sold it to make good money but was taken by a businessman that claimed all salt his and no one was allowed to take any caused war over the salt and people rioted by destroying the city and making a $1.5 million fee to repair city caused consequences and then no one can take salt . Just like a gold rush people from far away come to get fortune but in days or weeks it runs out and the good thing doesn't last long.
